Iranian vocalist Shahram Nazeri pays tribute to Tajik musician Davlatmand Kholov
TEHRAN- The world-renowned Iranian vocalist Shahram Nazeri has paid homage to the late Davlatmand Kholov, a celebrated Tajik virtuoso and music composer.
In a tribute published on Nazeri's social media pages, he expressed his sorrow following the passing of Kholov, describing him as "the genius of Eastern music and the great singer of Tajikistan."
“The sublime art and heavenly voice of Master Davlatmand Kholov were a global credit to the Eastern music and Persian poetry," reads a part of the published text.
Kholov, well-known among Iranians for his emotive performance of the piece "Shah Panaham Bedeh" (King, Save Me), lost his battle with cancer on Monday at the age of 74.
Kholov was esteemed by leading musicians in Tajikistan. His enduring piece "Shah Panaham Bedeh” is a tribute to Imam Reza (AS), the eighth Shiite imam, and has been adored by audiences in both Tajikistan and Iran.
Davlatmand Kholov's contributions to the world of music were further enriched by his collaborations with renowned Iranian musicians, as evidenced by the joint concerts he performed in Tehran on several occasions that highlighted the fusion of Tajik and Persian musical traditions. These concerts were highly anticipated events that celebrated the cultural heritage shared between the two countries, fostering greater understanding and appreciation for each other's musical styles.
